Properties: Colorless orthorhombic system crystalline or white amorphous powder, relative density 4.50(15C), melting point 1580C, nontoxic, almost insoluble in water, ethanol and acid, soluble in hot and concentrated sulfuric acid. Dried, it is easy to conglomerate. It is stable in chemical properties and will not change color while meeting with sulfureted hydrogen or toxic gas in the air. And at 600C, it can be reduced to barium sulfide by carbon.
Uses: Used as raw materials or fillers of paint, printing ink, plastics, rubber and battery, surface coating agent of photographic paper and coated art paper, textile sizing agent. And it can be used as glass refining agent to eliminate bubbles and increase gloss; As well as protective wall coverings for anti-radiation.
